WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Duration: 3 hours Prerequisite: Level One: Home Electrical Basics 🚩 Bring your take-home multimeter from Level One Instructor: Alex Walsh Age Requirement: Must be 14+ Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes required. Comfortable, well-fitted clothing you will not mind getting dirty. No loose jewelry. Longer hair should be pulled back. Workshop Description: This hands-on workshop goes beyond basic wiring and into how electricians think, test, and troubleshoot real electrical systems. You will wire complete circuits, test them with a multimeter, identify issues, and observe how systems behave once energized, all under controlled, instructor-supervised conditions. ‼️ Level One is required and provides the foundation for this next step. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to: - Wire and test a three-way lighting circuit with confidence - Install recessed lighting fixtures correctly - Wire a GFCI receptacle and understand downstream protection - Identify and correct common wiring mistakes before power is restored - Use a multimeter to verify safe conditions and diagnose issues - Understand how breakers, GFCIs, and lighting respond to faults - Apply key code concepts including grounding, box fill, conductor sizing, and breaker selection Hands-On Learning: Each participant works at a dedicated station using real materials and professional methods. You will learn to: - Pull and prepare cable - Terminate switches, outlets, and fixtures - Identify traveler wires and neutral paths - Test circuits before energizing - Troubleshoot wiring issues Safety First: Safety is non-negotiable. You will learn: - Lockout and tagout procedures - Proper PPE and safe work habits - How to verify circuits are de-energized - How professionals test before and after energizing All live power demonstrations are handled by the instructor. This workshop teaches you how to test, verify, and think through electrical work safely, so you can handle basic tasks with confidence and know when to call a professional.

Your safety is always our priority. We provide all necessary PPE based on the type of work being performed, including items such as N95 masks, gloves, eye and ear protection, and protective aprons. Our instructors will guide you on proper safety practices throughout the class.

Participants work with real tools and materials used in the trades, providing hands-on experience that reflects real-world conditions. All tools and materials required for the workshop are included for use during the workshop.

FIRST AID &
SAFETY PREPAREDNESS

While safety is emphasized in every workshop, we are fully prepared should an accident occur. Our facility is equipped with first aid kits, two emergency eye wash stations, and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

SNACKS &
BEVERAGES

Hands-on work can build up an appetite, so we offer a small refreshment station with complimentary soda, water, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and individually packaged snacks.
