TILE FLOOR INSTALLATION - 12" x 12"

Build on your foundational skills and learn to install a porcelain tile floor from prep to grout.

495 US dollars

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Skill Level: Intermediate Duration: Approximately 7.5 hours Age Requirement: 14 and up Instructor: Richard Jenkins What Is Included: All tools, materials, and personal protective equipment. Dress Code: Closed toe shoes. Comfortable clothing you do not mind getting dirty. No loose jewelry. Longer hair pulled back. Please Note: This workshop does not cover foundational tile knowledge taught in Tile & Grout Basics. Completing that course first is strongly recommended. The construction industry has roughly 1 million fewer skilled workers than at the last housing boom. Floor tile installation runs $15 to $75+ per square foot, and a failed install from bad subfloor prep can cost $2,000 to $15,000 to correct. Knowing what good floor tile work requires is one of the most valuable things a homeowner can learn. What this workshop covers: • Project planning, staging, and demolition considerations. • Subfloor structural requirements and deflection checks. • Underlayment options: Durock, HardieBacker, and plywood. • Primer versus uncoupling membranes and how to choose. • Thinset and grout selection for porcelain floor tile. Hands on practice: You will prep and prime a subfloor, set 12 by 12 inch tiles with leveling clips, cut around a toilet flange, remove clips after cure, then mix and install grout. Worth taking even if you never plan to tile. Bad subfloor prep and poor thinset coverage are the most common failure points. You will know what to look for before hiring and what questions to ask. Reserve your spot today. ‼️ Breaks & Meals: Participants are welcome to take breaks as needed; however, workshop instruction will continue during unscheduled breaks. Full-day workshops include a 30-minute meal break. Complimentary beverages and individually packaged snacks are provided. Participants may bring a lunch, use the on-site refrigerator and microwave, or visit one of the mall restaurants. Those with food sensitivities or dietary restrictions are encouraged to plan accordingly. ‼️ Timing Notice: Our workshops are interactive. Occasionally, classes may run slightly past the scheduled end time to ensure students feel confident with the material. Please allow for some flexibility in your schedule.
