WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Skill Level: Intermediate Duration: Approximately 7.5 hours Age Requirement: 14 and up Instructor: Richard Jenkins What Is Included: All tools, materials, and personal protective equipment. Dress Code: Closed toe shoes. Comfortable clothing you do not mind getting dirty. No loose jewelry. Longer hair pulled back. Please Note: This workshop does not cover foundational tile knowledge taught in Tile & Grout Basics. Completing that course first is strongly recommended. Workshop Description This Level Two workshop is designed for participants who have completed our Tile & Grout Basics class. In this session, you will learn the full workflow for installing 12" x 12" porcelain tile on a residential subfloor (not a concrete slab). We begin with a focused overview of planning, prep, materials, and safety, followed by a guided hands-on installation. ​IMPORTANT NOTE: This workshop requires significant periods of kneeling, bending, leaning. Knee pads are provided. ​What's Covered Pre-Installation Discussion Includes: • Planning and staging your project for efficiency • Tool overview and safe use of PPE • Photo and video examples of demolition • Checking subfloors for structural requirements and deflection • When to use Durock, HardieBacker, or plywood for floor stiffness • Cleaning and preparing substrates for proper bonding • Primer vs. uncoupling membranes and how to choose • Selecting the correct thinset and grout for porcelain tile Hands-On Portion Includes: • Cleaning and prepping the subfloor • Applying primer • Setting 12" x 12" tiles with leveling clips for a flat surface • Making a cutout for a toilet flange • Removing clips after cure • Cleaning grout joints • Mixing and installing grout Reserve your spot today. ‼️ Breaks & Meals: Participants are welcome to take breaks as needed; however, workshop instruction will continue during unscheduled breaks. Full-day workshops include a 30-minute meal break. Complimentary beverages and individually packaged snacks are provided. Participants may bring a lunch, use the on-site refrigerator and microwave, or visit one of the mall restaurants. Those with food sensitivities or dietary restrictions are encouraged to plan accordingly. ‼️ Timing Notice: Our workshops are interactive. Occasionally, classes may run slightly past the scheduled end time to ensure students feel confident with the material. Please allow for some flexibility in your schedule.


Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change. Our refund policy is designed to be fair while allowing us to prepare properly for each workshop. ​15+ Days Before Workshop Cancellations made 15 or more days prior to the scheduled workshop date are eligible for a full refund. Refund requests must be submitted in writing to info@tradeworxacademy.com. ​8–14 Days Before Workshop Cancellations made between 8–14 days prior to the scheduled workshop date are not refundable, but you will receive a credit equal to the value of your registration. This credit may be applied toward a future workshop of equal or lesser value and must be used within one (1) year of the original workshop date. Request must be made in writing to info@tradeworxacademy.com 7 Days or Less Before Workshop Cancellations made 7 days or less prior to the workshop date are not eligible for a refund or credit. Workshop Cancellations by TradeWorx Academy In the rare event that TradeWorx Academy must cancel a workshop, all registered participants will be transferred to a future workshop of equal value. If that date does not work for you, we will work with you to find an alternate workshop within one year of the original workshop date. By registering for a workshop, you agree to these policies. TradeWorx Academy reserves the right to cancel a workshop if registration falls below the minimum of five participants. In such cases, you will receive a full credit or be offered the option to transfer to another workshop.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE
EQUIPMENT

Your safety is always our priority. We provide all necessary PPE based on the type of work being performed, including items such as N95 masks, gloves, eye and ear protection, and protective aprons. Our instructors will guide you on proper safety practices throughout the class.

Participants work with real tools and materials used in the trades, providing hands-on experience that reflects real-world conditions. All tools and materials required for the workshop are included for use during the workshop.

FIRST AID &
SAFETY PREPAREDNESS

While safety is emphasized in every workshop, we are fully prepared should an accident occur. Our facility is equipped with first aid kits, two emergency eye wash stations, and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

SNACKS &
BEVERAGES

Hands-on work can build up an appetite, so we offer a small refreshment station with complimentary soda, water, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and individually packaged snacks.
