275 US dollars

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Duration: 4 hours Age Requirement: Must be 14-17 years of age. Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes required. Comfortable, well-fitted clothing that you won't mind getting dirty.  No loose jewelry.  Longer hair should be pulled back in a ponytail or ball cap. Workshop Description: Students will learn how to measure, cut, and install molding through hands-on instruction that breaks what often feels complex into a clear, repeatable process. This workshop focuses on building precision, confidence, and real-world skill while working with the tools and techniques used by professionals in the field. Students will learn how to: - Measure walls, corners, and runs accurately for crown, base, and shoe molding - Understand the difference between inside and outside corners and how to approach each correctly - Safely operate a compound miter saw to make clean, precise cuts - Use a coping saw to refine joints for a tighter, more professional fit - Install molding using a brad nailer with proper placement and technique - Apply caulk for smooth transitions and a seamless, finished appearance - Understand sanding, prep, and painting considerations that elevate the final result Throughout the workshop, students will actively work with real tools and materials, gaining practical experience that goes beyond observation. Instruction emphasizes both technique and attention to detail, helping students understand not just how to complete the work, but how to do it well. Molding installation is one of the most in-demand finishing skills in residential work. Even small trim projects can provide meaningful income opportunities. This makes it both a valuable life skill and a potential entry point into profitable hands-on work. By the end of the session, students leave with the ability to approach trim projects with confidence, a strong understanding of proper installation techniques, and a clear sense of how skilled craftsmanship directly impacts the look and value of a space.
