TEEN WORKSHOPS: TILE & GROUT BASICS

Discover an Artisan Trade That Combines Design, Skill & Craftsmanship.

375 US dollars

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Duration: Approximately 4 hours | Age: 14 to 17 | Instructor: Richard Jenkins What Is Included: All tools, materials, and personal protective equipment. Dress Code: Closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing your teen does not mind getting dirty, no loose jewelry, longer hair pulled back. What this workshop covers: • Tile types: porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, glass, and mosaic. • How to choose, mix, and apply the right thinset and grout. • Safe use of trowels, grout floats, tile saws, and score-and-snap cutters. • Layout, surface prep, and substrate selection for clean, lasting results. Hands-on practice: Students work with real materials and professional-grade tools under direct supervision, practicing trowel technique, grouting, and cutting tile — leaving with a clear picture of how a full installation comes together. Why This Trade Matters: Tile is foundational to virtually every kitchen, bathroom, and home renovation project. Quality installation demands precision, problem-solving, and craftsmanship - skills that are always in demand. Where This Can Take Them: Tile installation is one of the most in-demand trades in the country, and skilled installers are in short supply. This is precision work that no algorithm can replicate on a job site. Those who master it can join an established contractor or go independent and build a brand entirely their own - with long-term career potential that grows with experience. These are skills your teen will actually use: Teens who understand tile work know what a quality installation looks like, when something is failing, and how to address it when they have a space of their own - saving real money in a first home and every home after, and never being overcharged for something they could handle themselves. Reserve your teen's spot today. ‼️ Breaks and Meals: Short breaks are available throughout the session. Full-day classes include a 30-minute supervised meal break. Beverages and snacks are provided. Students may bring a packed lunch or visit a mall restaurant with parent permission. Please send appropriate options if your teen has food allergies. ‼️ Timing Notice: Our workshops are hands-on and may run a few minutes past the scheduled end time. Please plan for flexible pickup or departure arrangements.
